Tuesday 29 April 2003: Hair at the 5th Avenue Musical Theatre
With a large number of players in the ensemble (the Tribe), I thought I’d pick one and watch her through the evening. It was Billie Wildrick, whom I have seen a few times in other shows, especially at the Village Theatre. She was very impressive, being “in the moment” flawlessly (she also plays one of the mothers trying to understand what the kids are up to), and contributing beautiful singing, especially in the song “Black Boys.” I learned later that she is nursing a cold; I would never have guessed it from her voice. Watching her cavort with the other “kids” in the tribe kept me fully engaged in the action onstage.
